Toheart - A FASHION PROLOGUE
The debut of Toheart on March 10th, a sub-unit of Infinite’s Woohyun and SHINee’s Key, is set to be one of the biggest and most exciting k-pop events of this year. Both Woohyun and Key are known for their wonderful style, both on and off stage. Woohyun has told interviewers about his habit of texting Key, who helps out SHINee’s stylist team, for fashion advice the night before a trip to the airport. Key has instagrammed some shots of him shopping for his and Woohyun’s stage clothes, wearing his signature street style look of recent months: leather, Saint Laurent, long and shapely dress shirts and distinctive hats. Key and Woohyun both used to tend towards quirkier airport looks - kawaii pins, brights, popping colours, layered statement pieces, pop culture references. Nowadays, though, it’s a sleeker, more minimalist look for both of them. Key is tending to lean towards one or two statement pieces in an outfit and has moved from looks that are eye-catching due to their bright colour; interesting, unique brands and shapes and subtle clash of prints and textures to looks that are eye-catching due to how breathtakingly well articulated they are. Woohyun is being seen in smart, updated and luxuriant takes on everyday classics - trench coats, preppy cricket jumpers, white shirts (both tailored and t-shirts) and platform shoes.
The teaser images for Toheart have just been released and they are taking influence from the 1980s - neon, rollerskates, quiffs and patent loafers backed up by tailoring and graphic prints. There is a relaxation and a homely, soft happiness within these images and the styling but it is all still conscious, artistic and striking.
Woohyun was once asked in a interview what ‘the coolest, best three fashion items that Nam Woohyun, the rising fashionista recommends’ were. He gave this response: ‘Number one is face. Number two is body. Number three is heart. A confident heart.’ Toheart certainly seem to have all three.
